BioShock Infinite has stormed the top of the UK All Format Gaming Chart in its debut week on sale, becoming the year’s second biggest title launch to date in the process.
Claiming top honours for the week ending March 30, BioShock Infinite has entered the chart in pole position, with Square Enix’s latest Tomb Raider offering holding strong in second. Despite falling short to the third BioShock offering, the former chart topping Tomb Raider remains the year’s most successful launch so far.
Completing the podium positions, last week’s chart leader, Gears of War Judgement, has slumped to third, with Microsoft’s first-person-shooting sitting just one place ahead of the top 10 stalwart FIFA 13, ending the week in fourth.
Far from the week’s only new entry, BioShock Infinite has headed a field spattered with debut titles all looking to capitalise on the Bank Holiday market, with EA’s Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel hitting the chart in sixth, one spot behind Nintendo’s 3DS and Nintendo Wii U offering, Luigi’s Mansion 2.
With Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 rising back up the ranks to end the week in seventh, ahead of the upcoming Master’s tournament, the latest golfing offering from EA, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, has entered the charts in eighth following just three days on sale. The week’s other new entries include the 12th placed LEGO City Undercover and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time at 31 in the chart.
Rounding out the week’s top ten are a pair of formed chart toppers, with Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed 3 coming home in ninth ahead of Crysis 3 in tenth.
