Apple has launched a new beta version of its Apple TV software, adding a subtly revamped UI that's more in keeping with iOS 7.
With iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite on the cards for an autumn launch, it might feel like Apple has neglected its living room media-streaming platform somewhat.
Fear not, for the company clearly hasn't forgotten about all you Apple TV owners. It has just launched a new Apple TV beta for the exclusive use of developers.
While there don't appear to be any sweeping changes to Apple's living room OS, there is a notable change in style to one that fits in with the current iOS and OS X ecosystem.
Icons for the likes of Movies, TV Shows, Music, iTunes Radio, and Computers now have a much flatter, simpler, more modern look to them. It's heavily reminiscent of the changes made with iOS 7.
Keeping with that theme, the new Apple TV beta brings with it a change of font to Helvetica Neue - the very same font that's used in iOS 7.
That appears to be it for additions with this latest Apple TV beta release. Previous betas included all-new features like Family Sharing or iCloud Photos support, but as far as we can tell there's nothing of the sort here.
Recent reports have suggested that Apple's major TV plans have slipped to 2015. It's widely held that the company means to expand its Apple TV offering to include cable TV, and possibly even live TV, content.
However, troubles at the negotiation table with content rights holders (those pesky US TV networks) have reportedly scuppered chances of a new and improved Apple TV launch this year.
