Could the iPhone 6 really feature a QHD panel?
The iPhone 6 could become the latest handset to play host to a high-end QHD display, latest reports have suggested.
With serial Apple tipster Jimmy Lin having last week offered an early glimpse at a claimed iPhone 6 prototype handset, new reports out of the manufacturer’s Hong Kong base have now suggested the phone will also boast an LG G3 rivalling QHD display.
While we strongly suggest these reports are taken with a sizeable pinch of salt, such a move would see the iPhone 6 benefit from a stunning 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution.
Apple has repeatedly spurned exact screen resolutions as a way of promoting its handsets, instead favouring to coin marketing terms such as ‘Retina’ as a way of highlighting the visual clarity of its displays.
Although a QHD panel would prove something of a surprise if found on the iPhone 6 – Apple’s aspect ratio for one would throw a snapper in the works – an improved panel is widely expected to feature on the Cupertino-based company’s next smartphone offering.
With the iPhone 6 widely expected to move to a new 4.7-inch form factor, the Retina display which has been a staple of Apple’s phones since the 2010 released iPhone 4 is starting to fall behind the likes of the QHD packing LG G3.
With the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 having also been tipped to pack a QHD panel, further recent iPhone 6 rumours have claimed the S5 rival will pair its larger screen with an all new, slimmer, brushed metal form factor.
Given the recently confirmed iOS 8 software will feature a heavy fitness focussed ilk, it is believed the iPhone 6 will all incorporate a mass of integrated sensors which will work with the inbound Health Kit app hub.
