LG G3 could be waterproof and dustproof

The LG G3 could follow in the Z2's footprints

The LG G3 could be waterproof and dustproof come launch, according to some new information.

It seems LG could follow in Sony and Samsung’s footsteps with its upcoming flagship later this year, if a Korean media report is to be believed.

LG has made the decision that waterproof and dustproof qualities are key for a 2014 smartphone and will make sure they are included with the LG G3.

Well, they say imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Sony made waterproof and dustproof ratings a standard for all its high-end smartphones starting with the Sony Xperia Z.

Samsung introduced the Samsung Galaxy S5 at MWC 2014 with the same qualities and now it seems LG is jumping on the weatherproof bandwagon.

LG is also said to be considering introducing fingerprint or iris recognition with the LG G3.

A fingerprint scanner would certainly be nothing new either, as Apple did it with the Touch ID in the iPhone 5S and Samsung has now done it with the Galaxy S5.

So far no-one has implemented an iris scanner in a smartphone that is currently on the market, but it would be interesting if LG can do something in the G3.

Other rumoured LG G3 specs include a QHD 1440 x 2560p resolution display and potentially the long awaited LG Odin CPU.

According to an alleged leaked sample photo, the LG G3 could also pack a rather impressive 13-megapixel camera.

It is expected to be unveiled in July, earlier than the usual September flagship release.
