Huawei talks its future wearable plans

In an announcement we are sure you are all thrilled to hear, Chinese manufacturer Huawei has pledged to launch more wearable devices.

Having unveiled its first wearable product at MWC 2014 last month – the Huawei Talkband B1, a wrist mounted fitness tracker turn pop-out Bluetooth headset – the Samsung, Sony and LG rival has confirmed more wearables are on its immediate product roadmap.

“The wearable is an important topic for the future,” Shao Yang, Huawei’s Chief Marketing Officer said in a recent interview with TrustedReviews. “This is our first wearable and we will launch more and more.”

Although Yang failed to detail what form these wearables would take, last year the company teased plans to launch its own rival to Google Glass, the smart eyewear.

“We are doing a lot of research and we are doing a lot of development in our labs,” Huawei’s CEO of Consumer Products, Richard Yu told us.

He added: “I wish we could show you what we are working on for over the next five to ten years, including glasses.”
