The settings menu for the Windows Phone 8.1 notifications has leaked online, seemingly confirming the long awaited feature.

It has been long rumoured that the Windows Phone 8.1 OS will offer notification options for users, something that would be a fantastic addition to Microsoft’s mobile OS.

So far, there has been very little information, leaked or otherwise, about how the Windows Phone notifcations would look or function.

However, a rather out of focus image of a Windows Phone 8.1 settings menu has appeared online, giving us a first look at how the notifications will function.

It seems you’ll be able to set up four different “quick access” notification buttons that will allow you to quickly toggle notifications for your four most used apps.

“Turning notifications on or off for individual apps. Turning notifications off won’t disable an app’s Live Tile”, highlights the settings information.

The settings menu also suggests that the Windows Phone 8.1 notifications will allow banner alerts similar to those featured in iOS. The banner option is part of a larger menu though, so expect there to be more options available if and when it is officially launched.

Earlier this month, sources “familiar with Microsoft’s plans” said the company is in the process of beta testing Windows Phone 8.1 internally.

It should be unveiled at the Build Conference in April 2014 and will feature the notifications centre, or at least a way to look at all your incoming messages and alerts within one menu. Like Android and iOS 7, this will be in the form of a drag down menu from the top of the screen.

Windows Phone 8.1 could also feature Microsoft’s own take on iOS’ Siri and Android’s Google Now. It is currently called Cortana, which Xbox gamers will know is the name of Master Chief’s own virtual assistant in the Halo series.
