MacBook Pro Problems: New models suffering from keyboard and trackpad issues


Following its official launch last week, a number of MacBook Pro problems have been emerged, with keyboard and trackpad issues widely reported.


Announced alongside the new iPad Air and iPad mini 2 with Retina display last Tuesday, October 22, the revised MacBook Pro models were made available with immediate effect, with early adopters now reporting a range of late-2013 MacBook Pro problems.


According to the Apple support pages, a raft of late-2013 MacBook Pro owners are having trouble with their new computer’s keyboard and trackpads, with the input and navigation options both reportedly suffering from freezing and locking up during up.


With a workaround yet to be discovered and no official fix having yet touched down courtesy of Apple, users are stating that a hard refresh with the MacBook Pro’s power button is the only short-term way to amend the ongoing issues.


With more than 17 pages of related issues already filling the Apple support pages, one disgruntled owner wrote: “I have just got my new MacBook Pro Retina 13 Haswell (October Model). This is my second day of usage and I have encountered sudden system freeze for 2 times already. The keyboard and the trackpad stops working including brightness keys and volume control keys. I have use Apple hardware test but no problems are found.”


This is just one of many similar reports, with a further user stating: “I have been using my MacBook for 2 days and I have encountered sudden freeze for 4 times! The keyboard and the trackpad are unresponsive.”


Said to be affecting both the 13-inch and 15-inch models, Apple has yet to offer any official acknowledgment or response to the ongoing MacBook Pro problems.


Unveiling the update laptops last week, Phil Schiller, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Marketing stated: "We've made the world's best pro notebook even better by adding more performance and even longer battery life.” He added: "MacBook Pro with Retina display continues to redefine the pro notebook."


With the 13-inch model dropping to just 3.5lbs in weight, the latest MacBook Pro refresh has seen the laptop had new fourth-generation Intel Core processors, starting from 2.6GHz options alongside a 128GB SSD and 4GB of RAM.
