Minecraft replaces Last of Us atop UK Gaming Chart

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has secured its first week atop the UK All Format Gaming Chart, dethroning longstanding chart topped The Last of Us in the process.

Having recorded a 74 per cent rise in week-on-week sales, the Xbox 360 exclusive edition of Minecraft has risen above the PS3 exclusive Last of Us, a game which has spent the past six weeks in pole position of the sales chart. With The Last of Us dropping to third, a rise in Minecraft interest has prevented Nintendo securing a first Wii U exclusive chart topper.

With two big name Wii U titles topping charts in the past seven days, Pikmin 3 has debuted in second position for the week ending July 27. Getting off to something of a less successful start, New Super Luigi U could only break into the charts in 14th position.

With no further new entries managing to secure a top 10 chart spot, there has been something of a reshuffle in some of the leading spots. While Animal Crossing: New Leaf held on to fourth position, Mario and Luigi: Dream Team Bros dropped two places to fifth.

Ahead of the upcoming FIFA 14 arrival, last year’s FIFA 13 has once again risen three places to sixth ahead of Far Cry 3, down one in seventh.

Rounding out the week’s top ten, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has held onto eighth while Tomb Raider and LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes are both up into ninth and tenth respectively.
