Sky Sports iPad app update will let you select football highlights

An imminent update to the Sky Sports iPad app will see users given the ability to choose match highlights from a raft of the latest football matches, the broadcasting giant has confirmed.

The first time such options will be afforded to app-based users, Sky has revealed that to coincide with the launch of its new Saturday Night Football programming, app users will be able to choose from extended highlights of up to eight of the weekend’s biggest games.

Set to be rolled out in time for the start of the new Premier League season on August 17, the latest Sky Sports app update will see the game-day content rolled out from 10pm on a Saturday night.

“We’re constantly improving the Sky Sports app for iPad, providing sports fans more ways to get closer to the action, wherever and whenever they want,” David Gibbs, Director of Sky Sports Digital Media, said.

He added: “The Match Choice is another fantastic addition to our app, strengthening Sky Sports’ offering of unrivalled second screen football coverage ahead of the new season.”

Available as a free download, the Sky Sports iPad app requires users to have a Sky Sport subscription to access the full range of content. Those not signed up to a Sky TV package can make use of the app’s news based elements for a £4.99 monthly outlay.

Sky has failed to announce any plans to bring its new Sky Sports app functionality to its iPhone or Android services.
