Lenovo Miix tablet convertible launched

Lenovo has launched the Lenovo Miix, a new Windows 8 tablet hybrid, along with several new IdeaPad Touch laptops.

The Lenovo Miix convertible is a 10.1-inch tablet that has a detachable folio case with built-in keyboard.

“Users don’t want to choose between a laptop and a tablet. They want both without compromise, and Lenovo Miix delivers”, said Vincent Fauquenot. “Bringing touch to our laptops is about more than adding a touch-enabled screen. It requires a rethink of the way we interact with our devices.

Also launching this summer is a new range of the Lenovo IdeaPad Touch S Series and U Series touchscreen laptops running Windows 8.

Lenovo Miix Features

The Lenovo Miix has a 10.1-inch 1366 x 768p HD IPS display running Windows 8. It is powered by a dual-core Intel Atom processor and can change between laptop and tablet mode using its detachable folio case.

The case has an integrated AccuType keyboard, but lacks any trackpad or touchpad similar to the case options for the Microsoft Surface Pro. Connecting via contact points on the tablet it is said to be quicker and more responsive than bluetooth keyboard docks.

It comes with 64GB of internal storage, which can be bolstered by 32GB memory cards via the microSD slot.

Just 10.2mm thick, the Lenovo Miix is fairly light too at 544g and includes Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity. It also packs optional 3G GPS connectivity and offers around 10 hours of battery life.

Lenovo Miix Release Date and Price

The Lenovo Miix price has been set at £449.99 and will be available in August.

Lenovo will also be releasing the new IdeaPad S210 Touch for £349.99, IdeaPad S500 Touch for £549.99, IdeaPad U330 Touch for £649.99 and the IdeaPad U430 for £699.99. All of these touchscreen Windows 8 laptops will be available from August.
