New figures reveal that 3.3 per cent of the total Android user-base is running the latest Android 5.0 OS.
That sounds paltry, but it’s over double last month's 1.6 per cent Lollipop adoption rate, signalling a boon in the software’s uptake.
Google determines these figures by tracking the devices visiting its Play Store over the past seven days.
These statistics reveal that Android Jelly Bean still ranks top as the most ubiquitous Android build.
Jelly Bean, for those of you Lollipoppers who struggle to remember the days of OS yore, was Android 4.1.x right up to 4.3.
A total of 42.6 per cent of users are running software in that range, with Android 4.4 KitKat coming second with a 40.9 per cent share.
Gingerbread – that’s 2.3.3 to 2.3.7 – is next up, laying claim to 6.9 per cent of Google-powered handsets, with Ice Cream Sandwich – 4.03 – 4.04 – in hot pursuit at 5.9 per cent.

Amusingly, some Android vets are still perusing the Play Store on the truly archaic Android Froyo. Yes, 0.4 per cent of Android users run Android 2.2.
Whatever the case, it’s great that more handsets are finally getting access to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
That number is set to rise further in the coming days too, with fresh reports that the Xperia series is mere moments away from the long-awaited Lollipop upgrade.
HTC One M8 handsets on AT&T and Verizon in the US are also still awaiting the 5.0 OTA update, assuredly bumping Lollipop’s smartphone share.
