An image of the recently announced SteamVR system headset appears to have leaked online.

Yesterday, we learned that Valve was turning up to the Game Developers Conference on March 4 with new Steam Machines, the final Steam Controller design (honest), and most intriguingly of all a brand new SteamVR system.

Now we appear to have caught our first glimpse of that SteamVR system - or a silhouette of its headset, at least.

Over at SteamDB, the team has managed to discover the above image buried in the Steam Universe sign-up page. Sure enough, it looks like the kind of modern VR headset we've come to expect following Oculus Rift and similar efforts from Samsung and Sony.

Just over a year ago, Valve implemented an experimental VR mode for its Steam gaming client, and called it SteamVR. It allowed the Oculus Rift device to be used for Steam games, but it now seems evident that Valve has its own virtual reality ideas.

Another new Steam-related addition is an update to the Steam Client Beta, which adds support for the new Steam Controller and withdraws support for the old model. The new controller adds a traditional analogue stick.

We'll see more of this new controller, alongside those much-delayed Steam Machines at GDC in early March. Who knows? We might also see something on Half-Life 3. We can but hope.
