Cut the Rope 2 release date confirmed for late 2013

A Cut the Rope 2 release date has been confirmed for this year, with developer ZeptoLab announcing the app-based game will land in late 2013.

Marking the return of the lovable, candy munching little green monster Om Nom, the sequel to Cut The Rope will be available to download for both iOS and Android in the coming months.

Making the announcement, ZeptoLab has confirmed that the game will feature a reimagined version of Om Nom's candy-filled world, with new adventures, interactive environments and never-before-seen characters.

What's more, fans will also be able to watch Om Nom in a third season of sister web series Om Nom Stories.

"Cut the Rope 2 is a massive step forward for the game," said Misha Lyalin, ZeptoLab CEO. "Amazing graphics, gameplay and characters drive a brand new experience that fans are going to love."

The original Cut the Rope game was released in October 2010 and was followed by Cut the Rope: Experiments in August 2011 and Cut the Rope: Time Travel in April 2013. ZeptoLab also brought out an additional puzzle game called Pudding Monsters in December 2012.

The gaming company has revealed that since the original Cut The Rope was launched in 2010, players have cut more than 60 billion ropes on the game at a rate of 42,000 ropes per minute.

The games have had 400 million global downloads, with 60 million active monthly users in the first half of 2013. A precise date of arrival is still up in the air, as is pricing.
