Freesat Free Time gains Demand 5

Demand 5

Demand 5 comes to Freesat

The Channel 5 catch-up service, Demand 5, is now available on Freesat Free Time platforms, joining BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and 4OD.

Freesat viewers can now catch up with their favourite programmes from Channel 5 as Demand 5 has now been added to the Free Time offerings.

Free Time, the on demand service from Freesat, now offers the catch-up services from all UK terrestrial channels, rivalling the YouView platform.

The subscription free satellite set top box offers 150 channels as standard, but also has six free HD channels available. Those opting for the Freesat Plus box will gain access to the Free Time service.

“Every week, more than four million viewers enjoy their favourite TV on Freesat,” said Emma Scott, Managing Director of Freesat. “As the consumer appetite for video on-demand grows, Freesat now offers viewer access to the four largest UK catch-up TV players, which account for 80 per cent of long form on-demand viewing today. We’re delighted that Freesat viewers can now enjoy all their favourite catch-up TV in one place, for free.”

With Demand 5 arriving on Freesat, viewers will be able to catch-up with programmes like Home & Away, CSI and all its various iterations, The Walking Dead or even Big Brother if that’s what they fancy.

“We’re very pleased to be adding Demand 5 to the Freesat Free Time service, further adding to the wide range of platforms and devices from which viewers can catch up on their favourite Channel 5 programmes and access a significant archive of our shows, including the ever popular Milkshake! strand,” added Paul Thornton-Jones, Head of Digital Media at Channel 5.

Freesat can be purchased as a stand-alone set top box through manufacturers like Bush and Humax, but can also be found pre-installed in a variety of smart TVs.
