Huawei Ascend Y300 entry-level smartphone announced

Huawei has announced its entry-level Huawei Ascend Y300 smartphone, available exclusively from Carphone Warehouse in the UK.

Targeted at the younger generations, the Huawei Ascend Y300 is an entry-level handset that offers a 4-inch display and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

“In the entry-level, the Ascend Y300 does not scrimp on anything”, said Huawei’s UK Sales Director, Rhys Saunders. “It combines hardware and features to deliver a compelling smartphone experience to a part of the market that has been under-served in the UK.”

Launching with Carphone Warehouse tomorrow, the Huawei Ascend Y300 will be available from £59.95 on PAYG. The entry-level handset can be purchased on pay monthly tariffs from £7.50 per month.

“High quality, affordable smartphones represent the fastest growing area of mobile market today and offer an exciting opportunity that many of the key players are vying for a piece of,” said Carl Cowling, Group Commercial Director at Carphone Warehouse. “The Huawei Ascend Y300 offers the best of both worlds – it’s a powerful smartphone at an accessible price tag – and we’re sure that it will be very popular with our customers.”

Huawei Ascend Y300 Features

The Huawei Ascend Y300 features a 4-inch IPS LCD touchscreen with 480 x 800p resolutions and a 233ppi image density. Packing a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, the entry-level smartphone has 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. It does pack a microSD card slot though, supporting an additional 32GB of storage.

In the rear, the Huawei Ascend Y300 has a 5-megapixel camera and a VGA snapper up front. It has a 1730mAh lithium-ion battery, which incorporates Huawei’s power saving technology to improve the battery life by 30 per cent.

Running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the smartphone has access to the full range of Google Play apps and games and features Huawei’s Emotion UI.
