Apple is reportedly plotting a scheme to bring Android users into the fold by offering a trade-in if they switch to the iPhone.
A 9to5Mac report says Apple is planning to open up its reuse and recycling program to include handsets from the likes of Samsung, LG and HTC.
The program, which has been around since 2013, allows shoppers to hand in their old phone at the Apple store in exchange for money-off vouchers towards a new iPhone. Currently the scheme is limited to Apple devices.
The offering will continue to work in the same way, according to the report, with Apple Store employees appropriating a value to the old handset by examining the model and physical condition of the device.
The employees, who’ve been extensively trained, will also be able to help ship jumpers to set up their new iPhones and transfer contacts across from the Android handset. All other data transfers will be the responsibility of the consumer, according to the sources.

The plan is for the new trade-in scheme to launch in the coming weeks, the report claims.
