Samsung has hinted at the upcoming arrival of new wearable devices, with a Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 release teased on Twitter.

Despite the Samsung Galaxy Gear having only launched at IFA 2013 back in September, the high-profile smartwatch has failed to grab much consumer attention, with the premium wrist wear putting many off with its £300 price tag and limited capabilities.

Teasing the upcoming arrival of new wearable devices, Samsung has posted an image on its social channels pointing to the imminent arrival of a Samsung Galaxy Gear follow-on.

Showing an image of the Samsung Galaxy Gear above ‘2013’ labelling, the teasing message features a large empty space alongside the slogan “what’s next. 2014.”

Although the image does not offer any more precise launch details for its future wearables, it has previously been suggested that the company will unveil new techy timepieces in the coming weeks.

While a Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 offering is not expected to be unveiled until MWC 2014 in February alongside the eagerly awaited Samsung Galaxy S5, a number of leaks have claimed that a Samsung-branded wearable fitness gadget will enter the realms of reality during CES 2014 next week.

In teasing its future tech offerings, Samsung Mobile UK has used the Twitter notification to see what consumers are after. The image was posted alongside the message: “What do you want Samsung to unveil in 2014?”

Although the Samsung Galaxy Gear plays host to incorporated camera and a microphone and speaker combination that makes wrist-based calls a possibility, the watch’s smartphone syncing alerts users to incoming emails but does not let them view the messages.
